Model Description Page for Dodge Ram Trucks 2002+

The photo to the right shows one popular method of breaking into your full size RAM truck. The thief prys into the door under the handle to get at the lock rods inside the door. Then, they force the rod to move and unlock the door! It's fast, easy and quiet, making this a favorite among thieves. >

What's the solution?

Read on...

Ouch! See the hole right under the lock at the body and handle seam?

Inside the driver side front door with plate installed.
< The photo to the left shows a Jimmi' Jammer™ plate mounted to the backside of the door handle. The plate surrounds the lock cylinder area, and the far end slides up and under the lock cylinder holder for maximum protection. The plate covers the seam between the handle and door metal, blocking access to the lock rods inside the door. (Lock rods are not shown here for clarity.)

Why do they pry in near the lock?

On some vehicles, the factory alarm will not activate when entry is gained using this method. The alarm is triggered at the door latch, so the alarm brain thinks a key has been used to unlock the door because the rod moved at the latch! With the Jimmi' Jammer™ installed, the lock assembly is shielded from prying.

What if my front passenger door doesn't have a lock on the outside?
If your RAM has a lock on the drivers door handle, but not on the passenger side, you still need a plate on the passenger side. We have had many callers tell us that a thief got in through the passenger door, even though there is no lock cylinder in the handle. This is possible because there are lock rods, such as the manual pull rod coming through the door cavity, and an experienced thief knows how to get at them. Put a plate on each door!

What about the rear doors on a four door truck?
On your full size RAM four door truck, we are now recommending the installation of the rear plates, PN 072220. When we first made a kit for the new RAM, we didn't think the rear doors were vulnerable, so we didn't make a kit for them. Before too long, we started receiving calls telling us that a thief had either attempted to get in, or did get in through the rear doors. The picture to the right shows a rear door plate installed, covering the door metal opening where the handle is inserted into the door.

This page describes our kits for Dodge RAM trucks 2002-2008. See the chart farther down on this page to match your vehicle to the proper part number as shown here: The photos on this description page represent our latest revisions of each plate. If you bought a kit and the plates don't look like these, check our installation tutorials for this vehicle where you will see some of the differences. The older designs still fit and work, we just make changes over time based on input from installers and customers.

Part Number - 072205 - If your truck has lock cylinders on both front doors.
Part Number - 072210 -
