The photo to the right shows one popular method of breaking into your full size GM truck or SUV. The thief prys into the door under the handle to get at the lock rods inside the door. Then, they force the rod to move and unlock the door! It's fast, easy and quiet, making this a favorite among thieves. > Another popular method is to "Punch" the lock straight into the door cavity. < The photo to the left shows a Jimmi' Jammer™ plate mounted to the backside of the door handle. The plate surrounds the lock cylinder, and comes up around the back end of the lock cylinder to help prevent the lock from being "punched" into the door. The plate also covers the seam between the handle and door metal, blocking access to the lock rods inside the door. (Lock rods are not shown here for clarity.) Also not shown here is the circular clamp we provide for each lock cylinder. The clamp surrounds the lock holder and greatly strengthens the lock holder assembly, making it even more difficult to break in. It is mounted behind the plate in this photo. | ||
The photo to the right shows a handle where the lock was "Punched" into the door. >> Why do they pry in or punch the lock? On these vehicles, the factory alarm will not activate when entry is gained using these methods. The alarm is triggered at the door latch, so the alarm brain thinks a key has been used to unlock the door because the rod moved at the latch! With the Jimmi' Jammer™ installed, the lock assembly is shielded from prying and punching. |

If you have a 4 door truck, or an SUV you need the Jimmi' Jammer™ plates on your rear passenger doors as well. The rods inside the rear doors can be accessed by a skilled thief by prying in with a screwdriver. The lock rod from your manual lock pull inside the cab can be reached at the latch, installing the plates helps block access to them. For SUV owners, if you have the tailgate style or liftgate style cargo door, we havn't heard of any attacks on these doors. If you have the swing open double doors, ambulance style, we now have a Jimmi' Jammer for that door. See PN 031522 in the model chart below. |

These kits will bolt right onto your vehicle. See our installation tutorials to see an installation with photos for this model. Use this kit if your truck has lock cylinders on both front doors, or if your vehicle has a lock only on the drivers side, install a plate on the passenger side also. If you have a four door model, order our part number 031505 for the rear doors. The front and rear door plates are not interchangeable.
